Synopsis
Brian Spindler is an undercover cop in Los Angeles that thrusts himself into the world of illegal street racing in order to smoke out a team of driving bandits who have been robbing 18 wheelers filled with electronics. Spindler sets up shop in a neighborhood auto parts superstore which is visited by many of the local racers. Soon Spindler attempts to make friends the king of the pavement, Dominic Torreto. Spindler believes that Torreto is the man behind the highway hijackings, but need proof to make the bust. Torreto never loses a race, as Spindler, who drags him for pink slips, soon finds out. But when the cops move in on the late night competition, Dominic's crew lights out, leaving Spindler the only one to get him away from the scene. Torreto soon takes in Spindler, to the dismay of some of his crew, but to the delight of his younger sister Mia. A run-in with a local Asian gang complicates matters for both Torreto, whose had past sour business dealings with them. THis leaves Spindler temporarily off the scent. Through his openness about his past, Toretto starts to win over Spindler, as does young Mia. Spindler gets sucked further into the racing scene, which begins to blurs his true mission. In the end, Mia helps Spindler discover the identity of the bandits.
